Drawings, layout and chart settings

The drawing tools, how drawings are saved, one or two charts, and how the chart looks.

Drawing tools

The left rail groups the tools. Each group shows the last tool you used; the arrow on it opens the rest. Hold Alt and press the letter to pick one from the keyboard.

GroupTools
LinesTrend line (T), Horizontal line (H), Horizontal ray (J), Vertical line (V), Parallel channel (C), Pitchfork (K)
Fib & GannFib retracement (F), Gann fan (G)
PatternsXABCD pattern (D), Elliott wave (E)
Position & measureLong position (P), Short position (O), Price range (M)
ShapesRectangle (R), Brush (B), Path (L; Enter or double-click to finish)
AnnotationsText (X), Callout (N), Arrow (A)

Star a tool in its group to add it to your favorites, which also get their own floating toolbar. Select a long or short position drawing and press A to copy its stop to the order ticket.

Rail buttons

  • Magnet: snaps points to a candle's open, high, low or close. Off, Weak (snaps when close) or Strong (always snaps). M cycles it; hold Ctrl while drawing to flip it.
  • Continuous draw: keeps the tool picked after each drawing.
  • Chart visibility: Hide all indicators, Hide all drawings or Hide both.
  • Remove all drawings: clears every drawing on that market, after you confirm.

Styles and defaults

Select a drawing for its style bar: colour, width, line style, extend right, duplicate, lock and settings (levels, labels, style). Changes you make in a drawing's settings become that tool's default. The star saves the current colour and line as the default for new drawings of that tool. Defaults are kept in this browser.

How drawings are saved

Drawings belong to the market, not the session, so your NQ markup shows on every NQ chart. They sync to your account and come back when you do. Each market holds up to 200; past that you'll see “Drawing limit reached (200) — delete some old markup first.”

Chart layout

If Layout shows in the right-hand rail, you can run one chart or two side by side on the same replay clock. Sync charts links the Crosshair, Visible range, Timeframe and Market. Trading stays on the execution chart; when the other chart shows a different market, Trade in its header moves trading there once you're flat.

Chart settings

Settings in the right-hand rail (or Settings… on the chart's right-click menu) has four tabs: Symbol (candle colours, timezone, 12 or 24-hour clock), Status line, Scales and lines (log scale, last price line, date format) and Canvas (background, grid, crosshair, margins). Save a look as a template to switch back to it later. Your appearance is shared with the Indicator Lab. The timezone only changes what you see: prop rules and trading days still run on New York time.
