Multiplayer battles
Join or host a Classic battle where every member trades the same tape, and build your player profile.
A battle puts the same market window in front of everyone in the lobby. You each step through it at your own pace, and the match ends for everyone at the same time.
The Multiplayer page
Open Multiplayer. If you're in a battle that is running, a green bar at the top shows your place, your P&L and the time left; Jump back in returns you to it. Below it are the five modes. Only Classic is playable today: everyone trades the same session from the same start, the highest P&L at the end wins, and nobody is knocked out. The other four show what's coming.
Join next Classic takes a seat in the soonest open Classic lobby. When none is open, the button reads Host a Classic. Starting soon lists the next battles with live countdowns; All battles shows the rest.
Creating a lobby
Press Host a Classic, or host one instead under Join next Classic.
- Mode: Backtest starts everyone on $100,000. Prop rules has you pick a firm, program and account size; the battle starts at that size under those rules.
- Maximum position: 1 to 20 minis per instrument (8 by default). Micros scale automatically.
- The window: one day, one week or one month of tape, picked at random from 2021 on. Click the date fields to choose exact dates; Surprise me goes back to random.
- Time limit: 15 minutes to 4 hours of clock.
- Starts: in 2, 5 or 15 minutes, in an hour, or Choose a time…
- Open to: Anyone in the server, or Invite only — by code.
- Announce it in #backtesting: posts the lobby to Discord when it's created. Invite-only lobbies are never announced.
Joining
Press Join on a lobby under Starting soon, or press Join with a code, type a private code and press Join. A lobby holds up to 50 players.
The rules
- The feed and the rules are frozen when the lobby is created. Everyone gets the same candles and date range.
- Forward only: no stepping back, no Select bar, no resets, and ETH/RTH is locked. The chart hides the month and year.
- “Five minutes left — only realized P&L counts.” At one minute you're warned that open positions will close at your final revealed price.
- In a Backtest battle, if your equity including open P&L reaches $0, your position closes and you're out: “Account blown — this battle is over for your account.”
Leave battle saves your progress, and your seat stays reserved until the battle ends.
How you're ranked
Standings count realized P&L, checked on our side. In a Backtest battle, everyone still standing ranks above blown accounts, then by realized P&L; ties go to the better win rate, then whoever finished first. In a Prop rules battle, accounts that took a payout rank first, then passed evals, then active accounts, then eliminated ones.
Your player profile
Your name and picture at the top of the Multiplayer page open your profile. It shows your battles, wins, podiums, best finish and top-3 rate, your three most frequent opponents, your badges and your recent battles. Hover over (or tap) any player in a lobby, the standings or the results to see their card; select it to open their profile.
Badges are earned from finished battles with two or more players: First win, Podium regular, Bell ringer (Classic wins), Veteran, Host and Passed the eval (a pass in a Prop rules battle). Once earned, a badge is yours to keep.
Customize sets your banner, avatar frame, title, featured badges and an 80-character bio. Other players never see your dollar amounts unless you turn on Show my P&L to other players; they still see your places and counts.
