Accounts and prop rules
Set up your evals, funded and personal accounts, file trades under them, and retire the ones that blow.
An account is where a trade gets filed: an eval, a funded account, your own money. Give each one its own account and you get a balance for each, plus a filter on the Overview to look at one at a time. Press Add account on Accounts. Once you have one, + New account in the Accounts row of Add trade adds more.
The account form
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Name | Required, up to 48 characters. No two accounts can share a name, even in different capitals. |
| Firm plan | Pick the firm, then Program and Size, to fill the firm, type, balance and rules from that firm's published plan. Keep Custom to type your own. On a linked broker account the firm is pre-picked from the account's name when it's recognisable. |
| Firm | Optional. Shows beside the type, like “Evaluation · Topstep”. |
| Type | Evaluation, Funded or Live. A label only. |
| Starting balance | Required. The balance is built from it. |
| Profit target, Max drawdown, Daily loss limit | Optional prop rules. Max drawdown is Trailing or Static. |
| Commission | Optional. What one contract costs you round turn, fees included, in dollars. New trades filed under the account take it × contracts as their fees, and its broker sync takes it off the broker's gross P&L. Trades already saved keep theirs. |
On a broker-linked account that already has synced trades with no fees, Edit account offers Apply to N synced trades with no fees under the saved commission. It gives each of those trades commission × contracts as its fees and lowers its net P&L by the same amount. Trades you logged or imported, and trades that already have fees, are left alone, so pressing it again changes nothing.
What the prop rules are for
Each account's card shows how far it is toward its profit target and how much room is left before its max drawdown, counted from the closed trades filed under it. A Trailing floor sits the max drawdown below the highest balance those trades reached; a Static one sits it below the starting balance. Under a quarter of the room left reads Close to drawdown. A card without a rule offers Add a profit target or Add max drawdown. Prophet AI reads the rules too, and the daily loss limit is hit when one day's closed trades lose that much.
Firm plans
Plans cover Apex Trader Funding, Alpha Futures, Lucid Trading, MyFundedFutures, Top One Futures, Topstep, Take Profit Trader and Tradeify, evaluation and funded, and are the same rules the Backtester's prop mode uses where it has them. An account on a plan is measured by the plan's own rules: its drawdown type (static, end-of-day or intraday trailing, and where it locks), the daily loss limit, the best-day consistency limit, minimum and qualifying days, contract limits and, for funded accounts, when a payout can be requested. Its card says In progress, Passed, Rule broken or Payout ready, shows the meters the plan has, and says what to do next, like “Make $1,470 more to reach the $3,000 profit target.” Plan details lists the rest, and the date the rules were read from the firm.
The Journal sees closed trades only, so an intraday trailing floor may sit higher at the firm than on the card, and payouts you've taken aren't known. A trade that closes at or after 6:00 PM Eastern counts toward the next trading day. Firms change their rules: check yours, and if a plan's rules change after you picked it, the card says so.
Balance and the cards
“Balance is your starting balance plus the closed trades filed under each account.” Open trades don't count.
- The summary: how many accounts are active, their balance and P&L, the one closest to its target, and how many are blown.
- The firm filter: shows one firm's accounts, Active and Blown alike.
- Each card: the account's balance and P&L, the target and drawdown rows, and where its trades come from: Manual, or Tradovate with the last sync.
The options button on a card, or a right-click on it, opens View trades, Edit account, Mark as blown and Delete account, plus Sync now and Unlink from Tradovate on linked accounts.
One trade, several accounts
Copy trading? Tick every account the trade fired on in the Accounts row of Add trade. Its P&L counts toward each of those balances, while All accounts on the Overview counts it once. If it also ran on accounts you don't track, type how many in copies beyond these. That number is saved with the trade and goes with it when you share to Discord; it doesn't change any P&L or balance. Fees work the same way: one copy's fees, counted on each account it's filed under.
Your Default account in Settings comes ticked on new trades. Accounts linked to Tradovate aren't on the form; their trades come from sync.
Blown accounts
Use Mark as blown when an eval fails or an account is done. Nothing marks it for you, even if a trade breaks a rule. The card asks first, with the day it blew: today, or an earlier day back to when you added the account. It moves to Blown with its history and balance and still shows in the Overview filter. It can't take new trades, so it drops off Add trade, the quick log and the CSV import, and it can't be your default.
Its review opens straight away. Pick what happened (hit daily loss, oversized, revenge trading and so on), write it down, and add one rule for next time. It saves as you go. Your rules gather at the top of Blown, newest first, with the reason you pick most. Click a blown account to reopen its review, where Restore to active undoes the blow and keeps what you wrote. To edit or delete a blown account, restore it first. Deleting is different from blowing: see Reset and your data.
