Reset and your data
What a Journal reset clears and keeps, and what happens when you delete a trade, account or playbook.
Resetting the Journal
Open Settings and press Reset journal… in the Journal group. It's greyed out as Journal is empty when there's nothing to clear. Type RESET and press Reset permanently. There's no undo.
It clears:
- every Journal trade, with its charts, tags, risk, rule checks and account filings;
- every Notebook day: plans, reviews and day mistakes;
- the record of which Tradovate trades were already imported.
It keeps:
- your accounts and their starting balances;
- your playbooks and their rules, and your tag list;
- your Tradovate links, your settings and your appearance;
- your Backtest journal.
Afterwards you'll see “Journal reset complete. Your stats are back to zero.”
Deleting one thing at a time
- A trade: Delete trade on its page. It's gone for good, with its charts, and your stats update.
- An account: Delete account in its row's menu. “Its trades stay in your journal, no longer filed under this account. This can't be undone.” A Tradovate link on it goes too, and if it was your default account, you're left with none. To keep the history, use Mark as blown instead; see Accounts and prop rules.
- A playbook: Delete playbook deletes it and its rules straight away. Trades keep the playbook's name.
- A backtest trade: Delete in the ⋯ menu of its review on the Backtest journal.
